Work For: - Ipas works globally to advance reproductive justice by expanding access to abortion and contraception. All people have ethe right to right to make fundamental decisions about their own bodies and health. That’s why we work with partners across Africa, Asia and the Americas to ensure that reproductive health services, including contraception, menstrual regulation and post abortion care available and accessible to all. Ipas Bangladesh is working closely with Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, it’s directorates and other stakeholders for improving Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights of women & Girls in Bangladesh since it’s establishment in BD in 2011. KEY WORKING AREAS Health System: Ipas Bangladesh’s health system strengthening work is designed to ensure sustainable provision of high-quality sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, with a special emphasis on serving young women. We also provide technical support to the government to encourage sustainable supplies of commodities and to reduce stock-outs that limit women’s and girls’ health care options. Humanitarian Support: Since 2017 Ipas started its humanitarian activities for Rohingya, Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals(FDMN) and surrounding host community in Cox’s Bazar. In partnership with UNFPA and other donors, Ipas Bangladesh has been implementing training programs for midlevel and seconded providers to health facilities and community awareness programs to increase availability and accessibility of SRH services at Rohingya camps. Currently Ipas Bangladesh has extended its activities in Bhasan Char Rohingya Refuge Camp. Community Access: Ipas Bangladesh provides technical support to implementing partners in implementing SBCC and community mobilization interventions to increase awareness, ensure women and young people have the knowledge, self-efficacy and social support to make and act on their own reproductive health decisions. Moreover, as men’s involvement is crucial in SRH programming to enhance their understanding and support for women’s and girls’ SRHR, community engagement initiatives are implemented at community level. Research: Ipas research mainly focus on service accessibility and availability, on understanding the causes and consequences of intimate partner violence and reproductive coercion, on climate change vulnerability and SRHR, on understanding provider biasness while counseling clients, and on how crises situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic impact access to, availability and utilization of SRH services in Bangladesh. Technical and Policy Work: Ipas Bangladesh work together with the MoH&FW to update national policies and technical and procedural guidelines to ensure evidence based, respectful SRH care and to protect women’s and girls’ rights. This has amongst others included technical assistance on revising and updating clinical manuals such as, Woman-Centered MR and PAC Services: Reference Manual, Woman-Centered MR and PAC Services: Trainer’s Manual, and the Bangla Manual on Woman-Centered MR and PAC Services for Mid-Level Providers. Further, Ipas supports efforts to strengthen sexual and reproductive health care topics in professional curriculums of nurses, midwives, and ob./gyns.
