Work For: - Handicap International Federation – Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is an international non-government organization which has its headquarters in France and present in more than 50 countries globally. Officially founded in 1982, HI promotes inclusion of all members in society, with a specific focus on the rights of people with disabilities. As a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, which led to the signing of the Mine Ban Treaty, HI was a co-recipient of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize.
Humanity & Inclusion in Bangladesh:
Humanity & Inclusion has been working in Bangladesh since 1997. HI supports both government and non-government partners to carry out programs in a variety of areas including health and prevention, functional rehabilitation, social and economic inclusion, and protection / risk reduction. We improve quality and accessibility of community services for all persons. We respond quickly and effectively to natural and civil disasters to assist survivors' recovery and reintegration. We advocate for the universal recognition of the rights of people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
HI has been present in Cox’s Bazar since 2007, providing specialized services to persons with specific needs in the Rohingya refugee population and host communities. After the refugee influx in August 2017, HI initiated the mobile unit approach to provide comprehensive and integrated services to refugee and host populations in Cox’s Bazar. These multi-sectoral teams provide timely, adapted, and comprehensive assistance to persons with specific needs, with emphasis on older persons and persons with disabilities.
In every area of intervention, HI implements a twin-track approach combining actions that directly support people with disabilities in the community with actions that support mainstream humanitarian and development actors to include people with disabilities in their existing programs and services.
